1. Discuss your score from the locus of control assignment. Do you agree or disagree with your score. Why or why not?
I do agree with my locus of control assessment score. Like I mentioned in the discussion board, I am a very optimistic person. I also am a realistic person and I try my best to understand that balancing these two elements makes for a successful personal and professional lifestyle. I think that my job has helped me establish a realistic outlook on life. Sometimes bad things happen for no reason. There are unavoidable forces that can affect a person’s life based on nothing more than wrong place, wrong time. However, we can refrain from unnecessary risks and help guide our lives in a positive direction by doing so.
2. Blog about On Course [Chapter 2: Accepting Personal Responsibility] Journal Entry 6 (pg. 53)
1. Draw a line down the middle of a journal page. On the left side of the line, copy the 10 Victim statements found on this page and the next page.
2. On the right side translate the victim side into the words of a Creator.
3. Write what you have learned or relearned about how you use language: Is it your habit to speak as a Victim or as a Creator? Do you find yourself more inclined to blame yourself, blame others, or seek solutions?
I most definitely tend to speak as a Creator, but I am a human and a realistic one at that! Like most people, sometimes I find myself in a rutt that seems daunting to escape. It is at these times I may fall into speaking the language of a Victim. But it is my optimism and realism that brings me out of it quickly and sets me toward finding a solution. I am a proud individual, but I will always admit my wrong doings and look for a better way to solve the problem.
